Nerve: agents that own the path from signed to billed
Founded and built Nerve, a multi-agent platform where agents own the stretch between a signed deal and a correct invoice, and every action they take stays visible, with outbound messages held for approval by default.
Overview
Revenue slips before an invoice ever exists. Onboarding stalls, customers never start what they bought, and finished work never gets billed. Sales owns the booking and finance owns the invoice, so the stretch in between moves only when someone has a free afternoon.
Nerve steps into that stretch, owns it end to end, and builds agents that keep owning it, for CFOs, COOs, and operating partners. For founders who are the whole team, the same platform runs as an AI chief of staff. I started it in February 2026 and have built and run it solo since: product, engineering, go-to-market, and finance.
What I built
- A multi-agent system in production. More than a dozen specialized agents (chief of staff, sales, revenue, product, growth, email triage, meeting prep), each with one job, coordinated by an orchestrator that routes work and hands it off between them.
- Approval by default. Every email and message an agent drafts waits for a person to approve it, unless the user turns on automatic sending for that agent.
- A hosted MCP server. Claude reads and acts on the same data as the app, so chat, Slack, email briefings, and dashboards all work from one source of truth.
- Guardrails that hold. Per-user and per-org data isolation, plus a post-generation filter that strips anything a user has permanently blocked from every AI-written briefing before it is stored or sent.
- A business-verification agent that ran in production inside a customer's compliance team for four months: a 15-step playbook against state registries, court records, and sanctions lists, deterministic pass/fail gates, a captured source for every finding, and a "needs review" path for anything uncertain.
Stack
Next.js on Vercel, Postgres (Neon), Redis (Upstash), and Clerk for auth, with Claude through the Anthropic API and AWS Bedrock. Users can connect Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Outlook, Slack, HubSpot, Asana, Fireflies, and Mercury.
Results
Nerve signed its first paying customer within 90 days of launch and a second in September 2026.
What I learned
A card that only reports a problem does half the job. Everything Nerve surfaces leads with the move it recommends and a one-click way to make it, with the supporting facts underneath. If an agent can spot the problem, it can propose the fix, and people hand real work to agents once they can see and approve every step.
